TOS Implementation, RST Rotterdam

Rotterdam Short Sea Terminal requested Seaport Group’s implementation team to support with the implementation of a bespoke (tailored) TOS solutions in 3 terminals (Uniport, RST Noord and RST Zuid). The TOS was developed by IT Partner with the applications Center, Masterplan, App and Web App.

Seaport started with a process documentation and gap analysis of the process of Uniport. While the TOS was developed and system was tested, Seaport moved on with the training and preparation for the go-live.

During the go-live process the challenges were taken on and a successful go-live has followed. The Reach stacker and terminal truck container terminal now followed the new yard planning and more TOS managed approach to operations. Although a lot of items were still to be improved, changed and implemented the team took the efforts to keep all running.

A similar pattern was followed with the preparation of the implementation at RST Noord. The Straddle Carrier Terminal had different parameters and the functionalities for this mode of transport was added to the TOS, including external/internal truck options to the other RST and neighbouring terminals.

Testing and training was done, go-live prepared and successfully handled.

A critical and complex ingredient was that the organisation of RST Noord changed drastically and tasks were redistributed among the staff into the setup that was required for utilizing the new system to its best function.
